Charlotte restaurants are shaking things up a bit by including the “water of the South” in their cocktails—sweet tea. I must admit, coming from up north, sweet tea was one of the highlights of moving south. Now, Charlotte restaurants are upping the ante by adding this not-so-secret ingredient to their cocktails.

If you want to make your own cocktail, try this recipe for a Sandbar Sweet Tea (featured image) from Muddy River Distillery. The ingredients you’ll need for this drink are Carolina Rum, sweet tea, mint, orange peel.
Directions: Muddle 6-8 mint leaves
Add 2 oz. Carolina Rum to a pint glass
Add ice and fill with sweet tea
Garnish with an orange peel or mint leaves
